Pittsburgh vanquishes West Michigan in shootout, 3-2 (2-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Pittsburgh defeated West Michigan in a shootout 3-2 (2-0 SO).

The shootout featured five attempts between both teams. Pittsburgh's other shootout goal was scored by Gavin Cummings.

Pittsburgh overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Pittsburgh was down 2-1 after a power play goal by West Michigan's Corey Siwula at 4:08 in the third period. Pittsburgh tied things up at 2-2 on a power play goal by Ryker Barber at 12:02 in the third period.

Pittsburgh kept West Michigan's goalie busy throughout the game, and Joe Licata made 40 saves on 43 shots.

Pittsburgh also got a goal from James Unger as well. In addition, Pittsburgh received assists from Kenny White, who had one and Cummings, who had two.

West Michigan's offense rang up 45 shots on Pittsburgh's net.

West Michigan additionally got points from Dakota Ulmer, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for West Michigan came via Nathan Rieman and Joe Zottola, who each chipped in one.

Marcus Gloss recorded 43 saves for Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. West Michigan incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
