Great Falls vanquishes Bozeman in shootout, 4-3 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Great Falls defeated Bozeman in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for 10 attempts between the teams.

Great Falls put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Bozeman to score on any of its five power plays. Bozeman was unable to stop Great Falls from sending pucks towards the net, and Great Falls eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Great Falls was helped by Connor Barta, who racked up one goal. Barta scored 1:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Great Falls. Mitchell Ramstad picked up the assist. Great Falls additionally got points from Tanner Congdon, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Great Falls also got a goal from Austin Krantz as well. In addition, Great Falls received assists from Jesse Johnson, Reed Link, and Malachi Bushey, who contributed one each.

Bozeman was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 26 penalty minutes.

Bozeman was helped by Nicholas Thompson, who grabbed one goal. Thompson scored 14:34 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Dylan Michaud assisted on the tally. Bozeman also had goals scored by Gunnar Mogck and Casey Gobel, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Bozeman were Bryce Meckes, Brock Loser, and Kegan Couture, who each chipped in one.

Lauren Massie made 23 saves for Great Falls on 26 shots. Great Falls incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Stephen Frank recorded 29 saves for Bozeman.
