Sugar Land downs Louisiana, 3-0

Matt DeNure finished with one point to lead Sugar Land to a 3-0 victory over Louisiana.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 8:17 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Sugar Land forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and two majors for 42 minutes in penalty time. Sugar Land had been averaging 27.0 minutes in penalties per game. Sugar Land excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Louisiana was unable to stop Sugar Land from sending pucks towards the net, and Sugar Land eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Sugar Land additionally got points from Jonathan Adnell, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Sugar Land also got a goal from Luca Valenza as well. In addition, Sugar Land received assists from Kyle Hooper, Zac McKenna, Gian Sgroi, and Frank Muscarella, who contributed one each.

Louisiana racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and two majors for 42 minutes in penalty time. Louisiana surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. Louisiana's offense operated below its season average. Louisiana averages 3.2 goals per game.

Kevin Mackey made 16 saves for Sugar Land on 16 shots. Sugar Land registered one goal on three power play opportunities. For Sugar Land, Trevor Wolf was ejected from the game. Logan Quebedeaux recorded 28 saves for Louisiana. Louisiana ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jonathan Hebert was ejected from the game.
