Pittsburgh's Sroka deadly on offense in 5-2 win against Southern Tier

Pittsburgh relied on the scoring touch of Darrien Sroka, who netted two goals, to beat Southern Tier, 5-2.

Sroka scored at 8:22 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Pittsburgh and again while on the power play 15:46 into the second to make the score 4-1 Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh forced Southern Tier goalie Cody Gibson to work between the pipes, taking 49 shots. Pittsburgh surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Pittsburgh has scored at the pace of 2.6 goals per game during the current campaign.

Pittsburgh also got points from Adam Schaffer, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Pittsburgh included Joshua Butterworh and Dominick Glavach, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Pittsburgh were Perry Shiring, who had two and James Unger, Nick Hawkins, Gavin Cummings, Kenny White, and Devin Sroka, who each chipped in one.

Southern Tier kept Pittsburgh's goalie busy throughout the game, and Marcus Gloss made 40 saves on 42 shots.

Southern Tier was helped by Curtis Carlson, who racked up one goal. Carlson scored on the power play 8:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Southern Tier. Southern Tier had gotten the advantage when Pittsburgh's Hawkins was sent off for slashing. Joshua Malin provided the assist. Southern Tier also got a goal from Brian Grant as well.

Pittsburgh incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Southern Tier's Gibson stopped 44 shots out of the 48 that he faced. Southern Tier incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
