Istre, Hutchinson dominate Euless, lead Louisiana to 8-5 win

Behind two goals and three assists from Jacob Istre and one goal and two assists from Brayden Hutchinson, Louisiana downed Euless 8-5.

Istre scored the first of his two goals short handed at 2:51 into the third period to make the score 6-3 Louisiana. Louisiana found itself down a man on Eric Eaton's checking from behind. Joshua Lodatto assisted on the tally. Istre's next tally short handed made the score 8-5 Louisiana with 1:13 left in the third period. Hutchinson scored on the power play 10:12 into the second period to make the score 3-3. A roughing penalty on Benjamin Kraus had put Louisiana on the power play. Istre picked up the assist.

Louisiana's penalty kill excelled, as Louisiana gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Louisiana forced Euless' goalies to work all game long, launching 33 shots and forcing 25 saves. Brady Mielnicki made seven stops and Mike Severson made 18. Louisiana surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Louisiana averages 2.9 goals per game. Louisiana could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Louisiana also got points from Hutchinson, who also had one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Louisiana included Davis VanGemerden, who had two and Ian Hale, Evan Hale, and Joshua Jorajuria, who scored one goal each. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Dante Juris, Mitch Dolese, and Tucker Alspaugh, who each chipped in one.

Euless forced Louisiana goalie Sean Angle to work between the pipes, taking 48 shots. Euless outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, Euless averages 2.5 goals per contest.

Euless was led by Anthony Chavez, who grabbed two goals. Chavez scored the first of his two goals at 4:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Euless. Kyle Dudley provided the assist. Chavez's next tally made the score 2-0 Euless with 18:26 left in the second period. Euless also had goals scored by Kayne Fedor, Cody Gottfreid, and Ian Linna, who each put in one. More assists for Euless came via Brandon Wade, Nick Snyder, Wyatt Gentry, and Charlie Scherberger, who contributed one each.

Sean Angle made 43 saves for Louisiana on 48 shots. Louisiana registered two goals on six power play opportunities. Euless incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
