Metro gutted out a close 4-3 win against West Michigan.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Mathias Tellstrom's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Kevin Shand had two goals to lead Metro to victory. Shand scored at 33 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-1 Metro and again while on the power play 4:49 into the second to make the score 3-1 Metro.

Metro forced West Michigan goalie Kevin OShea to work between the pipes, taking 51 shots. Metro's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Metro finished with 27 penalty minutes.

Metro also got a goal from David Chavis as well. In addition, Metro received assists from Michael Tratar, who had two and Devin Kelly, TJ Krajewski, Jacob Rutkoske, and Graham Day, who each chipped in one.

West Michigan kept Metro's goalie busy throughout the game, and Kameron Limburg made 30 saves on 33 shots.

West Michigan was helped by Devan Bayne, who registered one goal. Bayne scored on the power play 16:26 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Metro. West Michigan earned a power play opportunity when Jacob Gleason was put in the box for kneeing. Corey Siwula assisted on the tally. West Michigan also had goals scored by Ryan Price and Nathan Rieman, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for West Michigan were Justin Bloomfield and Chase Whallon, who contributed one each.

Metro registered two goals on six power play opportunities. For Metro, Dylan Naumovski was ejected from the game. West Michigan's OShea stopped 47 shots out of the 51 that he faced. West Michigan incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
