Toronto Furies beats Boston Blades 4-0 as van der Bliek gains shutout

Sonja van der Bliek was superb between the pipes for Toronto Furies, as she did not allow a goal in a 4-0 victory over Boston Blades.

Toronto Furies was led by Tanis Lamoureux, who finished with one goal and one assist. Lamoureux scored 5:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Toronto Furies. Natalie Spooner assisted on the tally.

Toronto Furies stifled Boston Blades' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Toronto Furies' offense rang up 60 shots on Boston Blades' net.

Toronto Furies additionally got points from Jessica Vella, who also registered one goal and one assist. Toronto Furies also had goals scored by Sarah Stevenson and Emily Fulton, who scored one goal each. In addition, Toronto Furies received assists from Ashton Hogan, Shannon Moulson, Carolyne Prevost, and Kori Cheverie, who each chipped in one.

Toronto Furies was unable to stop Boston Blades from sending pucks towards the net, and Boston Blades eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Sonja van der Bliek made 31 saves for Toronto Furies on 31 shots. Toronto Furies incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors and had no power play opportunities. Genevieve Lacasse rejected 56 shots on goal for Boston Blades. Boston Blades finished the contest with no penalties and went 0-for-4 with the man advantage.
