Calgary Inferno penalty kill dominates in 4-1 defeat of Boston Blades

Calgary Inferno's penalty kill was superb, as Calgary Inferno survived multiple penalties to beat Boston Blades, 4-1.

Calgary Inferno was led by Brittany Esposito, who had one goal. Esposito scored on the power play 11:03 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Calgary Inferno. Calgary Inferno had gained a power play chance when Sarah Duncan was whistled for hooking. Brianne Jenner picked up the assist.

Boston Blades was unable to stop Calgary Inferno from sending pucks towards the net, and Calgary Inferno eventually piled up 67 shots on goal. Calgary Inferno found itself short handed often, totaling 14 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays.

Calgary Inferno additionally got points from Jill Saulnier, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Calgary Inferno included Jenna Cunningham and Louise Warren, who each put in one. More assists for Calgary Inferno came via Kanae Aoki, Erica Kromm, Jessica Campbell, Hayley Wickenheiser, and Hayleigh Cudmore, who contributed one each.

Boston Blades was led by Erin Kickham, who scored the team's only goal. Kickham scored on the power play 13:08 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Calgary Inferno. A tripping penalty on Campbell had put Boston Blades on the power play. Megan Shea assisted on the tally.

Kathy Desjardins rejected 17 shots on goal for Calgary Inferno. Calgary Inferno registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Genevieve Lacasse recorded 63 saves for Boston Blades. Boston Blades incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
