Campbell leads Calgary Inferno over Brampton Thunder, 5-2

Jessica Campbell had one goal and two assists to lead Calgary Inferno to a 5-2 victory over Brampton Thunder.

Campbell scored on the power play 10:47 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Calgary Inferno. A cross checking penalty on Jocelyne Larocque had put Calgary Inferno on the power play. Elana Lovell picked up the assist. Campbell dished an assist on Erica Kromm's goal that made the score 2-0 Calgary Inferno at 15:36 into the first period. He added another helper on Blayre Turnbull's goal that made the score 4-0 Calgary Inferno at 3:11 into the second period.

Calgary Inferno's penalty kill excelled, as Calgary Inferno gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Calgary Inferno forced Brampton Thunder's goalies to work all game long, taking 31 shots and forcing 26 saves. Liz Knox made 16 stops and Erica Howe made 10. Calgary Inferno stifled Brampton Thunder's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Calgary Inferno could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

Calgary Inferno also got points from Lovell, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Turnbull, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Jill Saulnier also scored for Calgary Inferno. In addition, Calgary Inferno received assists from Jenna Cunningham, who had two and Kelsey Webster and Brittany Esposito, who each chipped in one.

Calgary Inferno was unable to stop Brampton Thunder from sending pucks towards the net, and Brampton Thunder eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. Brampton Thunder's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. Brampton Thunder gives up 2.5 goals per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Brampton Thunder also got a goal from Sarah Edney as well. More assists for Brampton Thunder came via Dania Simmonds, who had one and Laura McIntosh, who had two.

Calgary Inferno's Delayne Brian stopped 32 shots out of the 34 that she faced. Calgary Inferno registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Brampton Thunder incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
