Calgary Inferno beats Brampton Thunder 4-3 after comeback scare

Brampton Thunder tried to dig itself out of a four-goal hole, but Calgary Inferno held on for a 4-3 victory.

A goal by Elana Lovell put Calgary Inferno up 4-0 in the second period, but Brampton Thunder pulled to within one on Jess Jones's tally 15:51 into the third period.

Lovell was all over the ice for Calgary Inferno, as she grabbed two goals in the win.

Calgary Inferno forced Brampton Thunder goalie Erica Howe to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Calgary Inferno additionally got points from Jill Saulnier, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Kristen Hagg also scored for Calgary Inferno. More assists for Calgary Inferno came via Brianne Jenner and Hayley Wickenheiser, who contributed one each.

Brampton Thunder's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Calgary Inferno power plays.

Brampton Thunder was helped by Jenna McParland, who had one goal. McParland scored 4:34 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Calgary Inferno. Courtney Birchard assisted on the tally. Brampton Thunder also got points from Jamie Lee Rattray, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Jones, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Brampton Thunder received assists from Rebecca Vint, who had one and Laura Fortino, who had two.

Calgary Inferno's Delayne Brian stopped 24 shots out of the 27 that she faced. Calgary Inferno incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Erica Howe made 32 saves for Brampton Thunder on 36 shots. Brampton Thunder incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
