Calgary Inferno holds on for 5-4 win against Les Canadiennes

Les Canadiennes tried to dig itself out of a two-goal hole, but Calgary Inferno held on for a 5-4 victory.

Calgary Inferno made the score 5-3 on a goal by Jessica Campbell at 17:34 in the second period, and Les Canadiennes got as close as 5-4 when Marie-Philip Poulin scored 17:52 into the third period.

Campbell was all over the ice for Calgary Inferno, as she tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Campbell scored the first of her two goals at 12:24 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Calgary Inferno. Campbell's next tally made the score 5-3 Calgary Inferno with 2:26 left in the second period. Bailey Bram picked up the assist.

Calgary Inferno excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Calgary Inferno additionally got points from Sarah Davis, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Calgary Inferno included Kanae Aoki and Jill Saulnier, who each put in one. More assists for Calgary Inferno came via Aina Takeuchi and Brianne Jenner, who contributed one each.

Les Canadiennes stifled Calgary Inferno's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Les Canadiennes' offense rang up 39 shots on Calgary Inferno's net. Les Canadiennes' defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. Les Canadiennes gives up 1.8 goal per game.

Les Canadiennes was helped by Caroline Ouellette, who registered two goals. Ouellette scored the first of her two goals at 57 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-1 Les Canadiennes. Ann-Sophie Bettez provided the assist. Ouellette's next tally made the score 4-3 Calgary Inferno with 5:10 left in the second period. Poulin picked up the assist. Les Canadiennes also got points from Poulin, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Karell Emard also scored for Les Canadiennes. In addition, Les Canadiennes received assists from Katia Clement-Heydra and Jordanna Peroff, who each chipped in one.

Delayne Brian made 35 saves for Calgary Inferno on 39 shots. Calgary Inferno incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Charline Labonte recorded 18 saves for Les Canadiennes. Les Canadiennes incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
