Deschenes' big game bests Toronto Furies in 5-1 Les Canadiennes win

Les Canadiennes' Kim Deschenes had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in her team's 5-1 win over Toronto Furies.

Deschenes' tallies came at 6:33 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Les Canadiennes and 18:46 into the third to make the score 5-1 Les Canadiennes.

Les Canadiennes excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Les Canadiennes forced Toronto Furies goalie Christina Kessler to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. The defensemen of Les Canadiennes were also effective in Toronto Furies' zone, and came away with two goals.

Les Canadiennes also got points from Ann-Sophie Bettez, who also registered one goal and one assist and Karell Emard, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Cathy Chartrand also scored for Les Canadiennes. More assists for Les Canadiennes came via Leslie Oles, who had two and Caroline Ouellette, Katia Clement-Heydra, and Julie Chu, who contributed one each.

Toronto Furies did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 11 shots on net to force 10 saves.

Toronto Furies was led by Ashton Hogan, who scored the team's only goal. Hogan scored 14:56 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Les Canadiennes. Kori Cheverie picked up the assist.

Charline Labonte recorded 10 saves for Les Canadiennes. Les Canadiennes incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Christina Kessler made 36 saves for Toronto Furies on 41 shots. Toronto Furies incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
