Cape Cod wins tough contest against Lewiston/Auburn, 5-3

Cape Cod and Lewiston/Auburn were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Cape Cod made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Frank Oakley's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

Aaron Deady had a great game for Cape Cod, netting two goals. Deady's tallies came at 6:23 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Cape Cod and 19:44 into the third to make the score 5-3 Cape Cod.

Lewiston/Auburn was unable to stop Cape Cod from sending pucks towards the net, and Cape Cod eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Cape Cod additionally got points from Mitchell Eldridge, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Cape Cod also got a goal from Chris ODonnell as well. More assists for Cape Cod came via James Brosnan, Anthony Giannelli, Maxime Dordet, Joe Brennan, and Karl-Eric Demers, who each chipped in one and Chuck Costello and Eric Szeker, who contributed two each.

Lewiston/Auburn forced Cape Cod goalie Anton Zemba to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. Lewiston/Auburn's defense was uncharacteristically lax during the game. Lewiston/Auburn averages 1.7 goal allowed per game.

Lewiston/Auburn was helped by Colby Siering, who registered one goal. Siering scored 18:59 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Cape Cod. Thomas Puetz picked up the assist. Lewiston/Auburn also got points from Puetz, who also had one goal and one assist. Zachary Barry also scored for Lewiston/Auburn. In addition, Lewiston/Auburn received assists from Brett Bittner, who had two and Jordan Crowe and Casey Labonte, who each chipped in one.
