Pembroke survives Nepean comeback, wins 3-2

The Nepean Raiders tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Pembroke Lumber Kings held on for a 3-2 victory.

Pembroke made the score 3-0 on a goal by Alex Gilmour at 7:20 in the third period, and Nepean got as close as 3-2 when Samuel Meisenheimer scored 16:30 into the third period.

Gilmour had two goals and one assist to lead the Lumber Kings. Gilmour scored the first of his two goals at 8:34 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Pembroke. Derek Varrin assisted on the tally. Gilmour's next tally made the score 3-0 Pembroke with 12:40 left in the third period. Patrick Kyte picked up the assist.

The Raiders were unable to stop Pembroke from sending pucks towards the net, and the Lumber Kings eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Pembroke additionally got points from Kyte, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Pembroke came via Kris Lalonde, who had one.

Nepean's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Pembroke power plays.

Nepean also got a goal from Kari Belec as well. In addition, Nepean received assists from Bailey Brant, Mike Finger, Rory Garlasco, and Martin Lavallee, who contributed one each.

Boyd Diclemente rejected 25 shots on goal for Pembroke. The Lumber Kings ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. Pembroke ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Varrin was ejected from the game. Francis Marotte made 32 saves for the Raiders on 35 shots. Nepean totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. For the Raiders, Blake Dalton was ejected from the game.
