Smiths Falls rips Kanata, 6-0

The Smiths Falls Bears were firing on all cylinders against the Kanata Lasers, and when the final buzzer sounded Bears emerged with a 6-0 win.

Jesse Blais was all over the ice for Smiths Falls, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Blais scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 2:46 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Smiths Falls. A slashing penalty on Mike McArthur had put the Bears on the power play. Chris MacMillan assisted on the tally. Blais' next tally on the power play made the score 4-0 Smiths Falls with 10:39 left in the third period. Matthew Kenney picked up the assist.

Smiths Falls' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Kanata power plays. The Bears was steadier on the defensive front than they have been for much of this season. Smiths Falls averages 2.7 goals allowed per game. The Bears bested their season scoring average. This season, Smiths Falls averages 3.8 goals per contest.

Smiths Falls additionally got points from Kenney, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Josh Leblanc, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Smiths Falls included Broydon Stufko and Sterling Bray, who each put in one. More assists for Smiths Falls came via Michael McKenney, who had two and Tristan Whynot, Corey Caruso, Tyler Creagh, and Cole Busschaert, who contributed one each.

Dyllan Lubbesmeyer rejected 19 shots on goal for the Bears. Smiths Falls incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Alex Butler made 20 saves for Kanata on 26 shots. The Lasers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
