Smiths Falls holds on for 6-4 win against KemptvilleNorth Grenville Municipal 1 Sun, Jan 31, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Kemptville 73s tried to dig themselves out of a four-goal hole, but the Smiths Falls Bears held on for a 6-4 victory. Smiths Falls made the score 6-2 on a goal by Sterling Bray at 7:02 in the third period, and Kemptville got as close as 6-4 when Victor Tracy scored 18:42 into the third period. The Bears was paced on offense by Jesse Blais and Chris MacMillan, who combined for six points. Blais had two goals and one assist and MacMillan also notched one goal and two assists. Smiths Falls forced 73s' goalies to work all game long, ripping 34 shots and forcing 28 saves. Peter Brooks made 19 stops and Nicholas Hodgins made nine. The Bears surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Smiths Falls averages 3.8 goals per game. Smiths Falls additionally got points from MacMillan, who also registered one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Smiths Falls included Matthew Kenney and Tyler Creagh, who scored one goal each. In addition, Smiths Falls received assists from Brett Garvey, who had two and Broydon Stufko, Josh Leblanc, Corey Caruso, Joey Rutkowski, Anthony DiPlacido, Cole Busschaert, and Michael McKenney, who contributed one each. Evan DeBrouwer made 38 saves for Smiths Falls on 42 shots. The Bears incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The 73s registered two goals on six power play opportunities. Kemptville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Alavi was ejected from the game.
