Corey Caruso gave the Smiths Falls Bears the lead in the first period, and the Ottawa Senators was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 2-0. Smiths Falls took over the lead for good with a goal by Caruso at 9:46 in the first period. Chris MacMillan assisted on the tally.Evan DeBrouwer frustrated Ottawa's offense all game, and stopped 32 shots en route to a shutout. DeBrouwer managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.47 prior to the game. The Bears were led by Caruso, who racked up one goal and one assist. Smiths Falls put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Senators to score on any of their five power plays. The Bears' defense was surprisingly good.
