The Ottawa Senators came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Carleton Place Canadians, but did just enough to escape with a 4-2 victory. Ottawa led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Senators' Louis-Charles Croteau scored at 9:21 in the second period to put Ottawa up 3-0. Mitchell Gibson had two goals to lead the Senators to victory. Gibson found the back of the net 18:42 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Ottawa and again while 3:22 into the second to make the score 2-0 Ottawa. Ottawa's penalty kill excelled, as the Senators gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays. Jaren Burke also scored for Ottawa. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa were Jody Sullivan, who had two and Alexandre Way, Isaac Anderson, Luke McCaw, and Geoffrey Lawson, who contributed one each. Carleton Place stifled Ottawa's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Canadians were held below their usual level of production. Carleton Place puts an average of 4.2 pucks into the net per game. The Canadians were helped by Tim Theochardis, who finished with one goal. Theochardis scored on the power play 5:14 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Ottawa. Carleton Place had gotten the advantage when the Senators' Gibson was sent off for high sticking. Brett Murray picked up the assist. Carleton Place also got a goal from Will LeNeave as well. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Logan Buchanan, Alex Robinson, and Nicolas Carrier, who each chipped in one. Ian Andriano made 21 saves for Ottawa on 23 shots. The Senators incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Canadians' Colton Point stopped 25 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Carleton Place incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
