Brockville outlasts Cumberland, 4-2

The game between the Brockville Braves and the Cumberland Grads was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Brockville emerged with a 4-2 win.

The Braves gained the winning advantage on a goal by Neil Robinson 8:46 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Brockville was paced by Robinson, who tallied one goal.

The Braves managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Brockville ended up below its season average of 15.0 penalty minutes per game. Cumberland was unable to stop the Braves from sending pucks towards the net, and Brockville eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Brockville also had goals scored by Thomas Dunleavy, Michael Murray, and Liam Folkes, who scored one goal each. More assists for Brockville came via Eric Faith, who had two, Vincenzo Renda, who had three, and Thomas Fingler and Ian Johnston, who each chipped in one.

The Grads stifled the Braves' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Cumberland could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Grads average 4.3 goals per game. Cumberland's offense rang up 42 shots on Brockville's net.

The Grads were helped by Benoit Villeneuve, who registered one goal. Villeneuve scored 12:04 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Cumberland. Raphael Larose picked up the assist. Marc-Olivier Bouchard also scored for Cumberland. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Mathieu Dubois, Ted McCabe, and DAndre John, who contributed one each.

The Braves' Henry Johnson stopped 40 shots out of the 42 that he faced. Brockville registered zero goals on three power play opportunities. Ryan Coughlin rejected 31 shots on goal for Cumberland. The Grads incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
