Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Carleton Place Canadians defeated the Cumberland Grads in a shootout 4-3 (3-2 SO). The shootout featured 14 attempts between both teams. Cumberland's shootout goals were scored by Marc-Olivier Bouchard and Adam Dauda. Carleton Place's other shootout goals were scored by Vinny Post and Andrew Dodson.The Canadians came back from a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. Carleton Place fell behind 3-0 after a power play goal by the Grads' Dauda at 16:26 in the second period. The Canadians knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Matt Lombardozzi at 13:54 in the third period. Carleton Place was helped by Bryce VanHorn, who tallied one goal. VanHorn scored 11:18 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Cumberland. Nicolas Carrier picked up the assist. Post also scored for Carleton Place. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Marcus Joseph, Braedyn Asselstine, Connor Merkley, and Dodson, who each chipped in one. Cumberland's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Carleton Place power plays. The Grads' offense rang up 37 shots on the Canadians' net. Cumberland was helped by Martin Frechette, who racked up one goal. Frechette scored 19:25 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cumberland. Bouchard assisted on the tally. Other players who recorded assists for Cumberland were Shawn Cameron, who had two and Zackhary Salloum, Grant Hebert, and Branden Makara, who contributed one each. James Edwardson recorded 34 saves for Carleton Place. The Canadians incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Thierry Messervier made 22 saves for the Grads on 25 shots. Cumberland incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
