Kemptville's comeback falls short, Cumberland wins 5-3Navan Memorial Centre Sun, Dec 06, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Kemptville 73s almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Cumberland Grads managed to pull out a 5-3 win in the end. Cumberland led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Grads' Marc-Olivier Bouchard scored at 6:29 in the third period to put Cumberland up 4-1. The Grads' offense was sparked by Adam Dauda, as he ended with four assists in a victory against Kemptville. In a losing effort, the 73s were led by Matt Tugnutt, who registered two goals. Tugnutt scored the first of his two goals at 3:51 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Cumberland. Jason Tackett provided the assist. Tugnutt's next tally made the score 4-2 Cumberland with 12:05 left in the third period. Owen Guy picked up the assist. Cumberland excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Kemptville was unable to stop the Grads from sending pucks towards the net, and Cumberland eventually piled up 41 shots on goal. The Grads could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game. Cumberland additionally got points from Zackhary Salloum, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Shawn Cameron also scored for Cumberland. More assists for Cumberland came via Michael Larose, who had one and Branden Makara, who had three. The 73s' offense rang up 45 shots on Cumberland's net. Kemptville could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 22 minutes in penalties during the game. Kemptville also got points from Guy, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, Kemptville received assists from Brandon Cole and Dean Kiriacou, who each chipped in one. The Grads' Ryan Coughlin stopped 42 shots out of the 45 that he faced. Cumberland registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Peter Brooks made 36 saves for the 73s on 40 shots.
