Cumberland outlasts Kanata, 4-2Navan Memorial Centre Sun, Nov 15, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Cumberland Grads escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Kanata Lasers. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Martin Frechette's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Cumberland was led by Frechette, who grabbed one goal. Frechette scored 7:52 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Cumberland. Simon Besner provided the assist. Kanata was unable to stop the Grads from sending pucks towards the net, and Cumberland eventually piled up 63 shots on goal. Cumberland additionally got points from Shawn Cameron, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Cumberland also had goals scored by Branden Makara and Michael Larose, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Cumberland were Adam Dauda, who had two and Matthieu Franche and Zackhary Salloum, who contributed one each. The Lasers struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 16 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays. Kanata was helped by Luca Nocita, who racked up one goal. Nocita scored 9:09 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Ty Power assisted on the tally. Michael Locatelli also scored for Kanata. In addition, Kanata received assists from David Pearce, Nicholas Graveline, and Louis-Charles Croteau, who each chipped in one. Thierry Messervier recorded 18 saves for the Grads. Cumberland incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Evan Moyse rejected 59 shots on goal for the Lasers. Kanata registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
