The Ottawa Senators survived a determined comeback attempt by the Cornwall Colts on the way to a 5-4 win.

Ottawa took a 5-3 lead during the third period, only to have Cornwall storm back on a Sebastian Dirven goal 5:10 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

Jim Pearson and Marc-Olivier Bouchard provided the spark for the Senators, combining for three goals and two assists. Pearson had two goals and Bouchard also added one goal and two assists.

Ottawa managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Senators ended up below its season average of 9.0 penalty minutes per game.

Ottawa also got points from Bouchard, who also finished with one goal and two assists and Zacharie Car, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Jared Leslie also scored for Ottawa. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa were William Cullen, who had two and Marc-Andre Gauvreau, Cameron White, and Sean Rappleyea, who contributed one each.

The Colts managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Cornwall wound up below its season average of 13.0 penalty minutes per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals.

The Colts were led by David Chevrier, who registered two goals. Chevrier scored the first of his two goals at 17:25 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Cornwall. Jeremy McFarlane assisted on the tally. Chevrier's next tally made the score 3-2 Cornwall with 14:34 left in the second period. Andrew Ming picked up the assist. Cornwall also got a goal from Nick Lalonde as well. In addition, Cornwall received assists from Lawson MacDonald, who had two and Keegan Mulhearn, Tanner Spink, and Matthew Morin, who each chipped in one.

Marcus Paulino made 26 saves for Ottawa on 30 shots. The Senators registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. Liam Lascelle rejected 24 shots on goal for Cornwall. The Colts registered one goal on two power play opportunities.
