Lascelle stymies Smiths Falls, Cornwall wins 2-1

Liam Lascelle had a standout game with 29 saves, and the Cornwall Colts beat the Smiths Falls Bears 2-1.

Cornwall was led by Tristan Elie, who grabbed one goal. Elie scored 8:40 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Cornwall. Parker Krol picked up the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 8:07 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Cornwall also got a goal from Lawson MacDougall as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Lawson MacDonald and Shawn Baird, who contributed one each.

Smiths Falls excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Bears' offense operated below their season average. Smiths Falls puts an average of 3.9 pucks into the net per game.

The Bears were led by Broydon Stufko, who scored the team's only goal. Stufko scored 6:22 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Michael McKenney provided the assist.

The Colts ended with nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. For Cornwall, Jeremy McFarlane was ejected from the game. Evan DeBrouwer rejected 28 shots on goal for Smiths Falls. The Bears totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. Smiths Falls ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Johnny Kyte was ejected from the game.
