Nepean outlasts Kanata, 4-2Kanata Recreational Complex Thu, Oct 15, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Nepean Raiders and the Kanata Lasers were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Nepean made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Ugo Roik's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. The Raiders were sparked by Roik, who racked up one goal. Roik scored 19:25 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Nepean. Corey Tam picked up the assist. Nepean's offense rang up 33 shots on Kanata's net. Nepean additionally got points from Jody Sullivan, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Nepean included Bailey Brant and PJ Heger, who each put in one. In addition, Nepean received assists from Hunter Garlasco, Josh Zizek, Luke McCaw, and Rory Garlasco, who each chipped in one. The Lasers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Kanata kept the Raiders' goalie busy throughout the game, and Jack Ondrovic made 31 saves on 33 shots. The Lasers were helped by Louis-Charles Croteau, who grabbed one goal. Croteau scored on the power play 5:17 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Nepean. An interference penalty on Rowan Savidant had put Kanata on the power play. David Pearce assisted on the tally. Kanata also got points from Dean Hewines, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Kanata were Jivan Sidhu, who had one. Nepean incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Evan Moyse rejected 29 shots on goal for the Lasers. Kanata incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
