Brockville hangs on, beats Nepean 3-1Nepean Sportsplex Rink 1 Sun, Oct 04, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Brockville Braves took the lead against the Nepean Raiders in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 3-1 victory. A goal 13:24 into the first period by Liam Folkes proved to be the game winner, and powered Brockville to the victory. Jesse Kestenbaum picked up the assist.Nepean was stymied by the Braves' netminder Henry Johnson, who stopped 32 shots during the victory. The solid play of Johnson will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.45. Brockville was led by Neil Robinson, who racked up one goal. Robinson scored on the power play 5:39 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Brockville. The Braves had gotten the advantage when the Raiders' Luke McCaw was sent off for roughing. Folkes provided the assist. Brockville stifled Nepean's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Brockville also got points from Folkes, who also registered one goal and one assist. Jack Billings also scored for Brockville. More assists for Brockville came via Vincenzo Renda, Tre Folkes, and Eric Faith, who each chipped in one. The Raiders' offense rang up 33 shots on the Braves' net. In addition, Nepean received assists from Josh Zizek and Jody Sullivan, who contributed one each. Brockville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Braves ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Declan Hilton was ejected from the game. Francis Marotte recorded 25 saves for Nepean.
