Kemptville rolls over Kanata, 6-1North Grenville Municipal 1 Fri, Oct 02, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Kemptville 73s had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-1 win over the Kanata Lasers. Kanata was stymied by Kemptville's netminder Charlie Jensen, who stopped 25 shots during the victory. Jensen certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.52 entering the contest. The Lasers were doomed by their poor performance on special teams, as the 73s were able to score four times while on the power play. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 10:19 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Kemptville forced Kanata goalie Alex Butler to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. The 73s found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Kemptville averages 3.2 goals per contest. The 73s were hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled six minors and one major for 17 minutes in penalty time. Kemptville was helped by Dean Kiriacou, who racked up one goal and one assist. Kiriacou scored on the power play 2:29 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Kemptville. The 73s had taken the advantage when the Lasers' David Pearce got sent off for head contact. Owen Guy provided the assist. Others who scored for Kemptville included Jason Tackett, who had two and Quinn Wichers, Tyler Young, and Jake Gaudet, who each put in one. In addition, Kemptville received assists from Kaelan OFlynn, Adam Alavi, Matthew Titus, and Brandon Cole, who contributed one each and Cameron Russell and Matt Tugnutt, who each chipped in three. Kanata could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game. The Lasers were led by Dakota Miskolczi, who scored the team's only goal. Miskolczi scored on the power play 15:20 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Kemptville. Kanata had gotten the advantage when Kemptville's Young was sent off for high sticking. Ian Johnston picked up the assist. The 73s ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Tackett was ejected from the game. The Lasers' Butler stopped 30 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Kanata registered one goal on six power play opportunities. For the Lasers, Preston Kugler and Pearce were ejected from the contest.
