Kanata falls apart in second, loses to Pembroke, 6-0

The Pembroke Lumber Kings used a three-goal second period to put away the Kanata Lasers, 6-0.

Pembroke got the win behind a great game by Nicolas Vlahos, who had one goal and three assists. Vlahos scored 18:25 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pembroke. Colton Keuhl assisted on the tally.

The Lumber Kings were boosted by Gabe Mollot-Hill, who turned in a shutout with 25 saves. Mollot-Hill managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.88 prior to the game.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 13:53 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

Pembroke's defensive play was more effective than usual against Kanata. The Lumber Kings average 3.0 goals allowed per game. Pembroke kept the Lasers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brian Wilson made 37 saves on 43 shots. The Lumber Kings outdid their season average for goals scored. Pembroke has scored at the pace of 3.1 goals per game during the current campaign.

Pembroke additionally got points from Wesley Ashley, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Jesse Blais, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Tyler ONeill, who also had one goal and two assists. Pembroke also had goals scored by Brock Rumbaugh and Stephen Cooney, who each put in one. More assists for Pembroke came via Ben VanOoteghem and Adam Beveridge, who each chipped in one.

Kanata did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Lasers average 2.1 goals per game.

The Lumber Kings totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Pembroke ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Justin Felhaber was ejected from the game. Kanata totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. For the Lasers, Roshen Jaswal was ejected from the game.
