Cumberland falls to Pembroke in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Pembroke Lumber Kings pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Cumberland Grads on a clutch goal by Ben VanOoteghem.

Pembroke overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Lumber Kings trailed 4-2 after a goal by Cumberland's DAndre John at 8:37 in the third period. Pembroke tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Chris Minns at 18:58 in the third period.

Ryan Casselman had a great game for the Lumber Kings, netting two goals. Casselman's tallies came at 7:16 into the third period to make the score 2-2 and short handed 16:20 into the third to make the score 4-3 Cumberland.

Pembroke excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Lumber Kings' offense rang up 42 shots on the Grads' net. Pembroke found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Lumber Kings average 2.8 goals per game.

Pembroke additionally got points from VanOoteghem, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Pembroke also got a goal from Adam Beveridge as well. Other players who recorded assists for Pembroke were Jesse Blais, who had two and Colton Keuhl, Cameron Hughes, Nicolas Vlahos, Tyler ONeill, and Justin Felhaber, who each chipped in one.

Cumberland was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 22 penalty minutes.

Others who scored for Cumberland included Grant Hebert, Shawn Cameron, and Ted McCabe, who each put in one. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Samuel Tremblay, Branden Makara, Michael Larose, Martin Frechette, Simon Besner, and Costa Georgitsos, who contributed one each.

Sean Green rejected 23 shots on goal for Pembroke. The Lumber Kings incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Thierry Messervier made 37 saves for the Grads on 42 shots.
