Kemptville squeaks by Nepean, 6-5Nepean Sportsplex Rink 1 Wed, Sep 16, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Kemptville 73s escaped with a 6-5 victory over the Nepean Raiders. Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Adam Alavi's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Alavi was all over the ice for Kemptville, as he had two goals in the win. Kemptville additionally got points from Cameron Russell, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points and Jake Gaudet, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Kemptville also got a goal from Matt Tugnutt as well. More assists for Kemptville came via Jason Tackett, who had two and Quinn Wichers, Owen Guy, Brandon Cole, Alex Row, and Victor Tracy, who each chipped in one. Nepean was helped by Jody Sullivan, who finished with two goals. Sullivan scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 4:38 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Nepean. A boarding penalty on Tyson Kirkby had put the Raiders on the power play. Derek Varrin provided the assist. Sullivan's next tally on the power play made the score 4-3 Nepean with 36 seconds left in the second period. Luke McCaw picked up the assist. Nepean also got points from Kari Belec, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Peter Sigouin, who also registered one goal and one assist. Martin Lavallee also scored for Nepean. Other players who recorded assists for Nepean were Josh Zizek, who had one and Blake Dalton, who had two. The 73s' Charlie Jensen stopped 21 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Kemptville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Jack Ondrovic rejected 16 shots on goal for Nepean. The Raiders incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
