Ottawa survives Carleton Place comeback, wins 5-3

The Carleton Place Canadians tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Ottawa Senators would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-3.

Ottawa took a 5-2 lead during the third period, only to have Carleton Place storm back on a Lucas Batt goal 10:29 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

The Senators were sparked by Zacharie Car, who tallied one goal. Car scored 3:39 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Ottawa. Kyle Hillick picked up the assist.

Ottawa capitalized on the Canadians' penalties, netting two goals while skating with a man advantage.

Ottawa also got points from Samuel Meisenheimer, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Mitchell Gibson, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Ottawa also had goals scored by Salim Mahi-Beaudry and Jim Pearson, who scored one goal each. More assists for Ottawa came via Zachary Cross, who had two and Marc-Andre Gauvreau, Sean Rappleyea, Greg Meireles, Daniel Sarracco, and Geoffrey Lawson, who contributed one each.

Carleton Place was led by Brett Murray, who had one goal and one assist. Murray scored 1:56 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Carleton Place. Marcus Joseph assisted on the tally. Carleton Place also got a goal from Matt Lombardozzi as well. Other players who recorded assists for Carleton Place were Connor Merkley, Andrew Dodson, Jordan Larson, and Tim Theochardis, who each chipped in one.

Ian Andriano recorded 19 saves for the Senators. Ottawa incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Canadians' Adrian Clark stopped 16 shots out of the 21 that he faced. Carleton Place incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
