Ottawa downs Cumberland in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Ottawa Senators pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Cumberland Grads on a clutch goal by Daniel Sarracco.

Samuel Meisenheimer and Sarracco provided the spark for Ottawa, combining for three goals and one assist. Meisenheimer registered two goals and Sarracco also added one goal and one assist.

The Senators' penalty kill excelled, as Ottawa gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays.

The Senators stifled Cumberland's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Grads were unable to stop Ottawa from sending pucks towards the net, and the Senators eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. Ottawa's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Senators finished with 22 penalty minutes.

Ottawa also got points from Sarracco, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Ottawa included Elie Boulerice and Jim Pearson, who scored one goal each. In addition, Ottawa received assists from Sean Rappleyea, who had two and Alexandre Way, Isaac Anderson, Bruno Cheff, and Zacharie Car, who contributed one each.

Cumberland could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Grads were led by Michael Larose, who racked up two goals and one assist. Larose scored the first of his two goals at 15:34 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Alex Cote picked up the assist. Larose's next tally made the score 4-4 with 20 seconds left in the third period. Zackhary Salloum assisted on the tally. Cumberland additionally got points from Shawn Cameron, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Cumberland also got a goal from Mathieu Dubois as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cumberland were Matthieu Franche, Grant Hebert, and Raphael Larose, who each chipped in one.

Ian Andriano rejected 24 shots on goal for Ottawa. The Senators registered one goal on nine power play opportunities. Thierry Messervier recorded 37 saves for Cumberland.
