Cornwall rips Brockville, 6-3

The Cornwall Colts had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-3 win over the Brockville Braves.

Cornwall got the win with help from a great game by Matthew Morin, who had two goals and one assist. Morin scored the first of his two goals at 15:58 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Cornwall. Parker Krol assisted on the tally. Morin's next tally made the score 5-2 Cornwall with 14:41 left in the third period. The Colts had gained a power play chance when Andrew Jarvis was whistled for game misconduct. Tristan Elie provided the assist.

Cornwall stifled Brockville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Colts bested their season scoring average. This season, Cornwall averages 3.8 goals per contest.

Cornwall additionally got points from Grant Cooper, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Krol, who also registered one goal and one assist. Cornwall also got a goal from Nick Lalonde as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Dean Derouchie, who had two and Ross Craig, Lawson MacDonald, David Chevrier, and Lawson MacDougall, who contributed one each.

The Braves' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled nine minors and two majors for 28 minutes in penalty time. Brockville had been averaging 19.0 minutes in penalties per game.

The Braves were helped by Neil Robinson, who had one goal. Robinson scored short handed 15:32 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Cornwall. A aggressor call on Preston Kugler put Brockville on the penalty kill. Vincenzo Renda picked up the assist. Brockville also had goals scored by Jack Billings and Liam Folkes, who each put in one. In addition, Brockville received assists from Sam Jones, who had one.

James Edwardson recorded 24 saves for the Colts. Cornwall incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Braves' Henry Johnson stopped 24 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Brockville registered zero goals on five power play opportunities. For the Braves, Kugler and Jarvis were ejected from the contest.
