Carleton Place survives Kanata comeback, wins 5-3

The Kanata Lasers tried their best to erase a four-goal deficit, but the Carleton Place Canadians would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-3.

Carleton Place made the score 5-1 on a goal by Brett Murray at 10:13 in the second period, and Kanata got as close as 5-3 when Louis-Charles Croteau scored 13:23 into the third period.

The Canadians got the win behind a great game by Andrew Dodson, who had one goal and two assists. Dodson scored 15:45 into the first period to make the score 4-0 Carleton Place. Bryce VanHorn picked up the assist.

Carleton Place's offense rang up 36 shots on the Lasers' net. The Canadians was effective with a man advantage, and put in three goals while on the power play. Carleton Place's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Canadians finished with 20 penalty minutes.

Carleton Place additionally got points from VanHorn, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Carleton Place also had goals scored by Marcus Joseph and Lucas Batt, who scored one goal each. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Jordan Larson, who had two and Owen Grant, Geoff Kitt, Nicolas Mucci, Connor Merkley, and Maxime StPierre, who contributed one each.

Others who scored for Kanata included Bennett Altman and Cole Lussier, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Kanata were Bryce Biller, Rowan Savidant, Dean Hewines, Wesley St Amand, Brandon Altman, and Joey Laird, who each chipped in one.

Carleton Place's Colton Point stopped 21 shots out of the 24 that he faced. Brian Wilson made 31 saves for Kanata on 36 shots. The Lasers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
