Alavi's goals lift Kemptville to 6-2 victory over Kanata

The Kemptville 73s relied on the scoring touch of Adam Alavi, who netted two goals, to beat the Kanata Lasers, 6-2.

Alavi found the back of the net 6:12 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Kemptville and again while 7:51 into the third to make the score 4-2 Kemptville.

Kemptville forced Kanata's goaltenders to work between the pipes, racking up 32 shots and forcing 26 saves. Brian Wilson made 24 stops and Alex Butler made two. The 73s put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Lasers to score on any of their five power plays.

Kemptville also had goals scored by Jason Tackett, Dean Kiriacou, Victor Tracy, and Bobby Dow, who scored one goal each. More assists for Kemptville came via Brandon Cole, who had two and Quinn Wichers, Jack Hale, Tyson Kirkby, Cameron Russell, Jake Gaudet, Alex Row, Tyler Beauparlant, and Liam Watson, who contributed one each.

Kanata's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Kemptville power plays.

The Lasers were helped by Cody Bean, who tallied one goal. Bean scored 13:52 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Ian Johnston assisted on the tally. Dean Hewines also scored for Kanata. Other players who recorded assists for Kanata were Spence Norcott and Cole Lussier, who each chipped in one.

Charlie Jensen rejected 15 shots on goal for Kemptville. The 73s incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Kanata incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
