Wellington's Adams deadly on offense in 5-2 win against Whitby

Behind a great game by Matt Adams, who had two goals, the Wellington Dukes defeated the Whitby Fury, 5-2.

Adams scored at 10:09 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Wellington and again while 4:00 into the second to make the score 3-1 Wellington.

Wellington's offense rang up 39 shots on Whitby's net.

Wellington also got a goal from Ben Sokay as well. In addition, Wellington received assists from Nicolas Mucci, Chase St Aubin, and Greg Smith, who each chipped in one and Carter Allen, Luc Brown, and Dylan Mascarin, who contributed two each.

The Dukes were unable to stop the Fury from sending pucks towards the net, and Whitby eventually piled up 41 shots on goal.

The Fury were led by Scott Kirton, who registered one goal. Kirton scored 9:59 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Brock Welsh picked up the assist. Luke Keenan also scored for Whitby. More assists for Whitby came via Nik Coric, Rylee McKinnon, and Ryan Taylor, who each chipped in one.

Olivier Lafreniere recorded 39 saves for Wellington. The Dukes incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Whitby's Daniel Mannella stopped 34 shots out of the 39 that he faced. The Fury incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
