Cobourg downs Kingston in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Cobourg Cougars pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Kingston Voyageurs on a clutch goal by Matt Carroll.

Cobourg overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Cougars was down 3-1 after a goal by Kingston's Mason Corliss at 13:52 in the second period. Cobourg tied things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Ryan Casselman at 17:57 in the third period.

Carroll was all over the ice for the Cougars, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Carroll scored the first of his two goals at 16:45 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Kingston. Brennan Roy assisted on the tally. Carroll's next tally made the score 4-3 Cobourg with 17:37 left in overtime. Reade MacInnis picked up the assist.

Cobourg managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Cougars ended up below its season average of 14.0 penalty minutes per game. Cobourg excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Austin Kozluk also scored for Cobourg. In addition, Cobourg received assists from Brenden Locke, who had one.

The Voyageurs kept the Cougars' goalie busy throughout the game, and Tyler Lewis made 31 saves on 34 shots.

Kingston was helped by Andrew Suriyuth, who registered one goal. Suriyuth scored 4:16 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Kingston. Cole Beckstead assisted on the tally. Kingston also got a goal from Danny Bosio as well. More assists for Kingston came via Jakob Brahaney, who had two and Jacob Hanlon, Cole Langfield, and Connor Cobbold, who each chipped in one.

Cobourg registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Zach Springer made 23 saves for the Voyageurs on 27 shots. Kingston incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
