GAME RECAP

Buffalo beats Georgetown 2-1 after comeback scare

HarborCenter    Wed, Feb 17, 2016

The Georgetown Raiders tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Buffalo Jr. Sabres held on for a 2-1 victory.

A goal by Dylan Seitz put Buffalo up 2-0 in the third period, but Georgetown pulled to within one on Andrew Court's tally 18:02 into the third period.

The Jr. Sabres were led by goalie Tucker Weppner, who finished with 33 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Weppner will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.79.

Buffalo was held below its usual level of production. The Jr. Sabres average 4.3 goals per game.

Buffalo also got a goal from Andrew Husted as well. More assists for Buffalo came via Aaron Reinig, Scott Ramaekers, and Anthony Hora, who contributed one each.

The Raiders stifled Buffalo's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Georgetown did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Raiders put an average of 3.9 pucks into the net per game. The Jr. Sabres were unable to stop Georgetown from sending pucks towards the net, and the Raiders eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

In addition, Georgetown received assists from Ryan Takamatsu and Daniel Hardie, who each chipped in one.

Buffalo incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Andrew Masters rejected 26 shots on goal for Georgetown. The Raiders incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
