Trenton rips Markham, 5-1Duncan Memorial Wed, Feb 17, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Trenton Golden Hawks had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the Markham Royals. Trenton was led by Ben Scheel, who registered one goal. Scheel scored 12:52 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Trenton. Keaton Ratcliffe provided the assist. The Golden Hawks forced Markham's goalies to work between the pipes, getting 37 shots and forcing 32 saves. Marcus Semiao made 14 stops and Scott Smith made 18. Trenton put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Royals to score on any of their three power plays. Trenton additionally got points from Mitch Emerson, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Danny Hanlon, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Hunter Fargey, who also had one goal and one assist. Quinn Lenihan also scored for Trenton. Other players who recorded assists for Trenton were Blayne Oliver, who had two and Josh Allan and Curtis Harvey, who contributed one each. Markham could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Royals average 3.7 goals per game. Markham was led by Matthew Dunlop, who scored the team's only goal. Dunlop scored 19:52 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Trenton. Aaron Spivak assisted on the tally. Daniel Urbani recorded 24 saves for the Golden Hawks. Trenton incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Royals incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
