Cobourg survives Kingston comeback, wins 3-1

The Kingston Voyageurs tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Cobourg Cougars held on for a 3-1 victory.

Cobourg made the score 3-0 on a goal by Patrick MacDonald at 8:19 in the third period, and Kingston got as close as 3-1 when Danny Bosio scored 19:47 into the third period.

The Voyageurs were stymied by the Cougars' netminder Stefano Durante, who stopped 29 shots during the victory. Durante managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.84 prior to the game.

Kingston was unable to stop Cobourg from sending pucks towards the net, and the Cougars eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Cobourg was helped by Brennan Roy, who registered one goal. Roy scored on the power play 7:17 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Cobourg. A roughing penalty on Reed Kekewich had put the Cougars on the power play. Ryan Casselman assisted on the tally. Cobourg also got a goal from Matt Goeree as well. In addition, Cobourg received assists from Rory Milne, Matt Carroll, Austin Kozluk, Mac Lowry, and Theo Lewis, who each chipped in one.

The Voyageurs' offense operated below their season average. Kingston averages 3.7 goals per game.

More assists for Kingston came via Connor Bebb and Jakob Brahaney, who contributed one each.

Cobourg incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Zach Springer recorded 33 saves for the Voyageurs. Kingston incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
