Jeffers' hat trick boosts Orangeville over Milton, 9-2

The Milton Icehawks could not stop the Orangeville Flyers' Jack Jeffers, who tallied a hat trick in a 9-2 win.

Jeffers got on the scoresheet 8:49 into the second period. He then added goals at 18:45 into the second and at 9:02 into the third.

The game was close after the first frame, but Orangeville banged in six goals during the second period to put the victory out of reach for Milton.

The Flyers forced the Icehawks' goaltenders to work between the pipes, launching 50 shots and forcing 41 saves. Jakob DeVincentis made 28 stops and Matt Whetham made 13. Orangeville stifled Milton's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Flyers bested their season scoring average. This season, Orangeville averages 3.4 goals per contest.

Orangeville also got points from Colin Rigney, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Zack Lyons, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Lucas Smilsky, who also had one goal and two assists, and Travis Brown, who also registered one goal and one assist. Orangeville also had goals scored by Josh DeFarias and Ethan Wiseman, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Orangeville were Zack Vukosa, who had two and John DiLorenzo, Kosta Likourezos, Liam Winslow, Jarret Woon Sam, and Matthew Barnes, who each chipped in one.

The Icehawks could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

Milton was led by Andrew Petrucci, who racked up two goals. Petrucci scored the first of his two goals at 17:28 into the second period to make the score 6-1 Orangeville. Anthony Filoso picked up the assist. Petrucci's next tally made the score 8-2 Orangeville with 14:06 left in the third period. In addition, Milton received assists from Devin Pierce, who had one.

Ruan Badenhorst made 25 saves for the Flyers on 27 shots. Orangeville incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Icehawks registered zero goals on five power play opportunities. For Milton, Eric Kloucek was ejected from the game.
