Aurora completes comeback, beats Markham, 3-2Aurora Community Centre Sat, Feb 13, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Markham Royals could not hold down the Aurora Tigers, and Tigers erased a two-goal deficit en route to a 3-2 win. Aurora never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Tigers trailed 2-0 after a goal by Markham's Lucas Condotta at 19:13 in the first period. Aurora tied things up at 2-2 on a power play goal by Daniel Mantenuto at 4:36 in the third period. The Tigers netted the game winner at 5:38 in the third period on a goal by Mantenuto. Aurora was sparked by Drake Board, who had one goal and one assist. The Tigers forced the Royals goalie Marcus Semiao to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. Noah Delmas also scored for Aurora. Other players who recorded assists for Aurora were Kyle Locke, Alex Formenton, Liam Ham, Liam Neuman, and Austin Gerhart, who each chipped in one. Aurora was unable to stop Markham from sending pucks towards the net, and the Royals eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. Markham could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. The Royals were helped by Hudson Michaelis, who grabbed one goal. Michaelis scored on the power play 10:11 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Markham. Markham had gained a power play chance when Formenton was whistled for holding. Aaron Spivak picked up the assist. In addition, Markham received assists from Matthew Dunlop, Rylee St. Onge, and Marco Azzano, who contributed one each. Joshua Boyko made 32 saves for the Tigers on 34 shots. Aurora incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Semiao rejected 33 shots on goal for the Royals. Markham registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
