Aurora falls to Cobourg in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

The Cobourg Cougars pulled out a 2-1 (OT) overtime victory over the Aurora Tigers on a clutch goal by Justin Bennett.

Cobourg was led by goalie Tyler Lewis, who finished with 31 saves while allowing one goal. Lewis certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.8 entering the contest.

The Cougars pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 14 penalty minutes.

Cobourg put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Aurora to score on any of its seven power plays.

Cobourg also got points from Brennan Roy, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Cobourg received assists from Kallen McFarland, Russell Nowry, and Ryan Casselman, who each chipped in one.

The Tigers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Aurora was held below its usual level of production. The Tigers put an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game. Aurora forced the Cougars goalie Lewis to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

The Tigers were led by Drake Board, who scored the team's only goal. Board scored 18:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Aurora. Austin Gerhart picked up the assist.

Joshua Boyko recorded 22 saves for Aurora. The Tigers incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
