Kingston holds on for 3-2 win against Wellington

The Wellington Dukes tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Kingston Voyageurs held on for a 3-2 victory.

A goal by Zachary Emelifeonwu put Kingston up 3-1 in the second period, but Wellington pulled to within one on Luc Brown's tally 4:12 into the third period.

The Voyageurs were led by Emelifeonwu, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Emelifeonwu scored on the power play 6:31 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Kingston. Kingston had gotten the advantage when the Dukes' Carter Allen was sent off for high sticking. Anthony Rinaldi picked up the assist.

The Voyageurs kept Wellington's goalie busy throughout the game, and Sam Tanguay made 31 saves on 34 shots.

Kingston additionally got points from Rinaldi, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Kingston also got a goal from Josh Hardiman as well. In addition, Kingston received assists from Danny Bosio, Colin Tonge, Ian Harris, and Jack Zielinski, who each chipped in one.

The Dukes managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Wellington finished below its season average of 15.0 penalty minutes per game.

The Dukes were helped by Dylan Mascarin, who had one goal. Mascarin scored 11:11 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Aidan Girduckis provided the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Wellington were Justin Bean and Ben Sokay, who contributed one each.

David Richer recorded 26 saves for Kingston. The Voyageurs incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Wellington registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
