The Pickering Panthers and the Markham Royals skate to 3-3 (OT) tiePickering Recreation Complex Sun, Feb 21, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
Pickering and Markham could not settle their match and fought to a 3-3 tie. The Royals stifled the Panthers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Markham forced Pickering goalie Troy Paquette to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots. The Royals were helped by Tyson Bruce, who racked up one goal. Bruce scored on the power play 2:05 into the third period to make the score 3-3. A hooking penalty on Kyle Gentles had put Markham on the power play. Hudson Michaelis provided the assist. Markham additionally got points from Michaelis, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Markham also got a goal from Sean Perichak as well. In addition, Markham received assists from Brendan Valko and Matthew Dunlop, who contributed one each. Paquette recorded 39 saves for the Panthers. Pickering incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Royals took out Marcus Semiao after he had made 14 saves and installed Scott Smith in goal, where he finished with 11 saves and the tie. Markham totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. The Royals ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Michaelis was ejected from the game.
