GAME RECAP

Pickering falls to Aurora in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

Aurora Community Centre    Sat, Feb 06, 2016

Liam Neuman gave the Aurora Tigers a 2-1 (OT) victory over the Pickering Panthers when he scored 2:07 into the extra period.

Aurora's Joshua Boyko was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 29 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Boyko will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.39.

Pickering's power play was ineffective against the Tigers' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Panthers were unable to stop Aurora from sending pucks towards the net, and the Tigers eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. Aurora found itself short handed often, totaling 24 penalty minutes and allowing seven power plays.

Aurora additionally got points from Noah Delmas, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Aurora received assists from Drake Board, James Thomson, and Ryan Shaw, who each chipped in one.

Pickering was led by Tiger McDonald, who scored the team's only goal. McDonald scored on the power play 14:10 into the third period to make the score 1-1. The Panthers had gained a power play chance when Nicholas Turenko was whistled for hooking. Robert Clark assisted on the tally.

The Tigers registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Troy Paquette made 32 saves for Pickering on 34 shots. The Panthers incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
