Trenton falls to Newmarket in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Newmarket Hurricanes pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Trenton Golden Hawks on a clutch goal by Marty Lawlor.

Newmarket was paced by Lawlor, who registered one goal. Lawlor scored 4:55 into overtime to make the score 3-2 Newmarket. Blake Coffey assisted on the tally.

Newmarket additionally got points from Coffey, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Mark Rozanov also scored for Newmarket. More assists for Newmarket came via Nick Kalpousos, Max Routledge, Marco Bozzo, and Todd Winder, who each chipped in one.

Trenton put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Hurricanes to score on any of their five power plays. The Golden Hawks kept Newmarket's goalie busy throughout the game, and Dalton Ewing made 30 saves on 32 shots.

Trenton was helped by Josh Allan, who tallied one goal. Allan scored on the power play 15:35 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Trenton. The Golden Hawks had taken the advantage when the Hurricanes' Andrew Breda got sent off for slashing. Hunter Fargey picked up the assist. Trenton also got a goal from Lucas Brown as well. In addition, Trenton received assists from Mitch Emerson, Keaton Ratcliffe, and Nick Boddy, who contributed one each.

Newmarket incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Trenton's Jackson McIntosh stopped 19 shots out of the 22 that he faced. The Golden Hawks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
