Stouffville shrugs off penalties, upends Pickering, 6-3

The Pickering Panthers failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Stouffville Spirit shook off a number of penalties to win, 6-3.

Stouffville was paced by Christopher Brill-Morgan, who racked up one goal and one assist. Brill-Morgan scored on the power play 10:36 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Stouffville. The Spirit had taken the advantage when Pickering's Andrew Hughes got sent off for hooking. Cameron Lintner picked up the assist.

In a losing effort, the Panthers were led by Tiger McDonald, who had one goal and two assists. McDonald scored 13:46 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Stouffville. Dallas Carter assisted on the tally.

Stouffville kept Pickering's goalie busy throughout the game, and Mathew Woroniuk made 31 saves on 37 shots. The Spirit surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Stouffville has scored at the pace of 3.4 goals per game during the current campaign. The Spirit could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

Stouffville also got points from Zachary Roberts, who also registered one goal and one assist, Alex Williamson, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Chad Burrows, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Stouffville included Jack Varga and Spencer Roberts, who scored one goal each. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Justin Mahabir and Josh Argier, who each chipped in one and Max Novick and Nathan Hudgin, who contributed two each.

Pickering also got a goal from Robert Clark as well. Other players who recorded assists for Pickering were Mackenzie Heber and John Hudgin, who each chipped in one.

Stouffville's Conor McCollum stopped 22 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Spirit registered three goals on six power play opportunities. The Panthers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
