Aurora pulls away in second, rolls over Lindsay, 8-1

The Aurora Tigers used a three-goal second period to put away the Lindsay Muskies, 8-1.

Aurora got the win on the strength of a great game by Daniel Mantenuto, who had one goal and three assists. Mantenuto scored on the power play 8:50 into the third period to make the score 7-1 Aurora. The Tigers had gained a power play chance when Hunter Hotrum was whistled for slashing. Drake Board assisted on the tally.

Aurora pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 18 penalty minutes.

The Tigers forced Lindsay goalie Graham Dynes to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. Aurora surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Tigers average 3.5 goals per contest.

Aurora additionally got points from Kyle Locke, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Board, who also registered one goal and one assist, Nicholas Turenko, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Liam Neuman, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, and Ryan Shaw, who also tallied two goals and one assist. Aurora also got a goal from JD Falconer as well. Other players who recorded assists for Aurora were Austin Gerhart, who had three and Evan Kearns, Noah Delmas, Liam Ham, and Rhys Forhan, who each chipped in one.

The Muskies were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 26 penalty minutes.

Lindsay was led by Dayton Kent, who scored the team's only goal. Kent scored on the power play 18:49 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Aurora. The Muskies had gotten the advantage when Aurora's Locke was sent off for high sticking. Cameron Lamport picked up the assist.

Joshua Boyko rejected 23 shots on goal for the Tigers. Aurora registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Graham Dynes made 32 saves for Lindsay on 40 shots. The Muskies registered one goal on six power play opportunities. For Lindsay, Christian Lea was ejected from the game.
