Isaacson's hat trick boosts Lindsay over Cobourg, 7-3

A hat trick by Nick Isaacson was the highlight in Muskies' 7-3 win against the Cobourg Cougars.

Isaacson's first goal came 12:06 into the first period. He then added goals at 10:55 into the second and at 15:55 into the second.

The Lindsay Muskies forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. Lindsay surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. The Muskies stifled Cobourg's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Lindsay outdid its season average for goals scored. The Muskies have scored at the pace of 2.2 goals per game during the current campaign.

Lindsay also had goals scored by Owen Barnett, Christian Lea, Kyle Diamond, and Brock Traill, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Lindsay were Josh Wainman, Cameron Robinson, and Cameron Harris, who contributed one each and James Allen and Cedric Ralph, who each chipped in two.

The Cougars' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 10 minors and one major for 55 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 15.0 minutes per game Cobourg had been spending in the box. The Cougars kept Lindsay's goalie busy throughout the game, and Sean Green made 35 saves on 38 shots.

Cobourg was helped by Justin Bennett, who racked up one goal. Bennett scored 13:31 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Josh Hopkin assisted on the tally. Cobourg additionally got points from Matt Goeree, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Cobourg also got a goal from Austin Kozluk as well. In addition, Cobourg received assists from Rory Milne, Patrick MacDonald, and Theo Lewis, who contributed one each.

The Muskies registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. For Lindsay, Robinson was ejected from the game. The Cougars' starting goalie, Stefano Durante, made 11 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Tyler Lewis, who stopped five shots. Cobourg registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. The Cougars ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and MacDonald was ejected from the game.
